On October 2, 2024, EPN, in partnership with the EPA Alumni Association, participated in a virtual roundtable discussion and Q&A session with EPA Regions 3 and 6 HBCU and MSI students and recent graduates. Beth Craig, EPN volunteer and former Director of Climate Protection Partnerships Division, Office of Atmospheric Programs, Office of Air and Radiation, moderated the panel, which included Sam Coleman, former Regional Deputy Administrator for EPA Region 6, John Armstead, EPA Region 3 former Director, Land Chemicals and Redevelopment Division and EPA alum Angela Lewis. Speaking from experience as former EPA hiring managers, the panelists provided interview techniques, as well as some do’s and don’ts. Special thanks to Jill Abelson, John Armstead, Liz Blackburn, Chuck Elkins, Karen Flournoy, Micheal Haire, Lynda Hall, Dan Heister, Dorothy Patton, Carl Reeverts, Susan Shinkman, Sandy Stavnes and Linda Storm for volunteering to provide 20- to 30-minute one-on-one mentoring sessions with the interested students.
