Environmental Protection Network Supports EPA Ban of TCE and PCE
Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the use of the toxic substances trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE), used as solvents in commercial and consumer products, including various cleaners, lubricants, paints and adhesives. Both chemicals are cancer-causing agents that can affect the liver, kidney, brain, and the nervous and immune systems.
“The long overdue actions taken today by EPA to ban the use of trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene in consumer products and many commercial uses represents a significant milestone in the protection of human health,” said Dr. Jennifer Orme-Zavaleta, former Acting Assistant Administrator of EPA’s Office of Research and Development and current EPN volunteer and board member.
Dr. Jennifer Orme-Zavaleta is available to speak to the media about how the ban on TCE and PCE will affect human health.
