The BlueGreen Alliance released a new map that spotlights opportunities to use Inflation Reduction Act, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and CHIPS and Science Act funding to help redress longstanding economic, racial, and environmental injustices by investing in communities who’ve endured decades of divestment.
The interactive map identifies three types of hard-hit communities, down to the Census tract or county level:

Disadvantaged communities identified under the Biden administration’s Justice40 Initiative;

Communities with recent closures of coal mines or coal-fired power plants, as identified by the Department of Energy; and
- Deindustrialized communities—a new classification that includes counties that have endured high manufacturing job loss and that currently have high unemployment or low wages.
