The Environmental Protection Network Is Heartened to See a Strong EPA Budget Request
Yesterday, President Biden announced his 2025 budget request to fund the federal government. Robust funding for EPA is needed for the agency to fulfill its mission to protect public health and the environment.
In response to the President’s announcement, the Environmental Protection Network has released the following statement:
“The Environmental Protection Network—comprised of over 600 EPA alumni volunteers located throughout the country—knows how important it is to have a sufficient budget to enable the agency to carry out its congressionally-mandated responsibilities to protect public health,” said Michelle Roos, Executive Director and EPA alum. “This proposal will increase funding for science and technology, and environmental and Superfund programs, and provide adequate staff and resources needed to conduct the vital regulatory support and oversight necessary to protecting public health and the environment.”
“Congress now needs to appropriate this funding to revitalize EPA, rebuild its staff, restore its ability to protect our nation’s health and environment, and advance environmental justice,” said David Coursen, Environmental Protection Network volunteer and former attorney in EPA’s Office of General Counsel (1987-2015).
David Coursen is available for media interviews regarding the President’s announcement and the importance of a fully funded EPA.
