While the House and Senate rejected the severe budget cuts proposed by the Trump Administration for FY2019, they envision very different directions for EPA. The House reduces support for EPA regulatory programs by $228 million and calls for an 11% cut to basic programs that support scientific research, enforcement and protections of air and water. The Senate holds EPA funding at FY2018 levels, which would still be one of the smallest EPA budgets in 30 years.
