Announcements

  • On October 18th, EPN and Michelle Roos were honored at the 2024 WE ACT for Environmental Justice Gala.

  • On October 2, 2024, EPN, in partnership with the EPA Alumni Association, participated in a virtual roundtable discussion and Q&A session with EPA Regions 3 and 6 HBCU and MSI students and recent graduates.

  • During July and August, EPN connected over 56 volunteers to over 357 requests for technical assistance from frontline communities, nonprofit organizations, law clinics, under-resourced government agencies, and others.

  • EPN members were featured in dozens of media outlets and authored several op-eds. EPN continues to provide in-depth, insightful background information to numerous reporters, congressional staffers, and nonprofits.

  • We hired Region 8 and 10 Community Outreach Associate Emmett Blaney and Region 7 Community Outreach Associate Rayan Makarem!

Breathing Easy Report

Since 2021, EPA has undergone an impressive reset — reestablishing scientific integrity and taking historic actions to address climate pollution, boost environmental justice, and protect America’s water, air, and land. Our new report, Breathing Easy: An Assessment of Public Health Benefits from EPA Air Pollution Standards (2021-24), analyzes the specific impact of this reset and the actions EPA has taken under the current administration.

Chitra Kumar, EPN board member and former director of the Office of Policy, Partnerships, and Program Development in EPA’s Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights, warns that Project 2025 would reverse decades of progress in environmental justice by dismantling key EPA programs.

Jennifer Orme-Zavaleta, EPN board member and former Acting Assistant Administrator of EPA’s Office of Research and Development, warns that Project 2025 aims to undermine EPA’s scientific mission by replacing technical experts with political appointees and limiting the agency’s use of science in decision-making.
