The Environmental Protection Network is Stronger and More Prepared to Fight for EPA’s Ability to Protect People’s Health

The Environmental Protection Network was founded in 2017 to combat efforts to undermine science, roll back protective regulations, and spread misinformation about public health and the environment. The Environmental Protection Network will continue this fight and push back against any efforts by a new administration to undermine public health and environmental protections.

“The Environmental Protection Network was founded in response to a flagrant disregard for law, science, and transparency,” said Environmental Protection Network Executive Director Michelle Roos. “Today, we are even stronger and more prepared to combat misinformation, shine a light on attempts to put politics ahead of science and the law, and support the bipartisan legacy of protecting the health and welfare of all of us. We all need an EPA that can protect public health and the environment without political interference. Our lives and the quality of our lives literally depend on it.”

Research from our report, Breathing Easy: An Assessment of Public Health Benefits from EPA Air Pollution Standards (2021-24), shows that the regulations passed during the last four years will save over 200,000 lives through 2050, prevent over 100 million asthma attacks, and deliver over $250 billion in net benefits annually. Any attempts to roll back these rules will diminish, if not completely eliminate, these benefits.

Michelle Roos and a number of other EPA alumni are available to speak to the media regarding our path forward.
