Lee Zeldin Plans to Roll Back Climate Regulations by Denying Greenhouse Gases Threaten Public Health, According to Report
Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Lee Zeldin, has urged the White House to repeal the 2009 endangerment finding, a key scientific determination that enables regulation of greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act, according to the Washington Post. This move highlights the Trump administration’s efforts to weaken federal climate policies and undercut scientific integrity.
“EPA’s finding that greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health and the environment rests on rigorous, continually updated, world-class science,” Joseph Goffman, former Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, said. “Withdrawing the finding would defy science, common sense, and what people have been seeing with their own eyes as devastatingly expensive and lethal storms, flooding, and wildfires have invaded communities across the country.”
Joseph Goffman is the former EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation, which is the EPA office with primary responsibility for implementing the Clean Air Act, and is available to speak with the media.
