PRESS CALL: Experts Will Answer Questions on How Trump’s Buyout, Grants Freeze, and Other Actions Will Affect EPA and Public Health 

The Environmental Protection Network (EPN) is inviting credentialed media to join a video call with a panel of experts to answer questions about how the Trump administration’s recent actions aimed at the federal workforce and government programs will affect the Environmental Protection Agency, public health, environmental justice, and climate change. Experts from EPN, American Federation of Government Employees, Lawyers for Good Government, and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments will be on hand and provide opening thoughts followed by questions and answers. 

WHO
The media briefing will feature the following experts:

  • Michelle Roos has served as the Executive Director of EPN since 2018, bringing over 25 years of experience in environmental protection and project management. A former EPA leader, she co-founded the West Coast Collaborative to reduce diesel emissions and led efforts to integrate environmental justice into federal permitting.
  • Marie Owens Powell is President of AFGE Council 238, representing over 8,000 EPA employees across the nation. 
  • Jillian Blanchard is Lawyers for Good Government’s Vice President of Climate Change and Environmental Justice and a nationally recognized attorney in energy and natural resources law. She has worked in all levels of government, nonprofit, and the private sector on environmental, infrastructure, and climate change issues for over 20 years. 
  • Milagros R. Elia, M.A, APRN, ANP-BC is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, an early-stage researcher in the environmental impact of climate change on patient care, and the Program Manager of Climate and Clean Energy at the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments. She is the immediate past chair of the national ANA Innovation Advisory Committee on Planetary and Global Health and currently a member of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses’, Policy and Advocacy Committee.
