Environmental Protection Network Launches #EPAFacts and EPAFacts.org to Counter Misinformation
Yesterday, President Trump let slip that his administration plans to cut EPA funding by 65%. Today, Environmental Protection Network is launching the #EPAFacts social media campaign and EPAFacts.org website to educate the public about EPA and the impact that deep cuts will have on clean air, clean water, and the economy.
“Trump wants to gut EPA, and his team has shut down EPA websites, ordered staff to stop communicating with the public, and repeatedly spread lies and misinformation,” Michelle Roos, Environmental Protection Network’s executive director, said. “We encourage everyone to go to EPAFacts.org and get reliable information provided by experts who formerly worked at EPA. EPA saves lives, and now it’s our turn to save EPA so they can keep working to protect all of us.”
Three former EPA Administrators, appointed by Republican and Democratic administrations, warned in the New York Times that Trump’s cuts would “render the agency incapable of protecting Americans from grave threats in our air, water and land.”
The Trump administration’s attacks on EPA are not only an unlawful overreach of presidential authority, but also not supported by the public. Eighty-six percent of voters in the 2024 elections, including 76 percent of voters who supported Donald Trump, oppose efforts to cut EPA’s staff and budget.
