The EPA’s Rural and Native Alaska Villages Program addresses the health and water-quality problems that face Alaskan Native communities, most of which are low-income, with unemployment reaching 50%. The project has decreased waterborne disease rates, health care costs, and provided funds to construct water sanitation facilities throughout Rural and Native Alaskan Villages. EPN has created this Rural and Native Alaska Villages fact sheet to provide an understanding of how important this fund is to ensuring the health and clean-water access for these communities.
