Annel Cabrera-Marus (she/her) serves as EPN’s Senior Director of Technical Assistance.
Annel brings over 20 years of experience in environmental justice, sustainability, and workforce and community development, with a focus on advancing equity and access to resources for under-resourced communities.
She has led large-scale programs that integrate climate resilience, economic empowerment, and community engagement, ensuring measurable impact across sectors. At EPN, she acts as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team, manages daily operations and contracts, and leads continuous improvement initiatives while representing EPN at key events and supporting vital coalitions.
Previously, Ms. Cabrera-Marus served as Chief Program Officer at Green City Force where she expanded organizational capacity, increased program enrollment, and led workforce strategies that connected marginalized communities to the green economy. She also held leadership roles at New York Restoration Project and L+M Development Partners where she strengthened community-led environmental initiatives, developed participatory design processes, and expanded ecological stewardship programs, supported workforce training initiatives focused on sustainability and economic mobility.
Earlier in her career, she worked directly with public housing residents on green job training and environmental programs; led national capacity building, training and technical assistance initiatives.
Ms. Cabrera-Marus holds an MSc in Environmental Policy & Sustainability Management from The New School, where she focused on climate justice and urban resilience. During her graduate studies, she worked on sustainable development projects in Argentina, gaining hands-on experience in international environmental policy. She earned her BA in Anthropology and Latin American & Iberian Studies from Bard College.
She lives in Elmhurst, Queens with her husband and daughter.
