In March of 2023, Betsy Southerland, EPN volunteer and former Director, Office of Science & Technology in EPA Office of Water, and former Deputy Office Director in EPA Office of Land and Emergency Management, penned an op-ed for Environmental Health News titled Time to Take Action to Protect People From PFAS Contaminated Fish. Her op-ed was most recently reprinted in The Island Press Urban Resilience Project’s new e-book, Resilience Matters – Flourishing in an Era of Extremes. The op-ed urges EPA and state governments to take action on creating advisories and monitoring requirements for PFAS contamination.
