On November 22, 2017, former Commissioners, Secretaries, and Directors of state environmental protection agencies came together to express their deep concern over the House’s approval of HR 3354. This letter, organized with the help of EPN, brought together a broad spectrum of state officials – both geographically and politically – who note the “cooperative federalism” underlying U.S. environmental laws and states. Providing insufficient funding to either the EPA or the states can compromise the effectiveness of the federal environmental safety net.
