On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in partnership with the EPA Alumni Association and EPA Region 6, EPN volunteers assisted in an educational roundtable for applicants applying for positions through the Recent Graduates Pathway program at EPA. Beth Craig, former Director of the Climate Protection Partnerships Division, Office of Atmospheric Programs, EPA Office of Air and Radiation, moderated the conversation. Panelists included Sam Coleman, former Regional Deputy Administrator for EPA Region 6; Carl Edlund; and a current Region 6 employee who applied through the Recent Graduates Pathway. Panelists spoke about what motivated them to commit to public service, how they heard about their job, and what prompted their application. Other talking points included what courses prepared the panelists for their career at EPA and what advice they would give to a student or recent graduate about working in the environmental field. Special thanks to Brendan Doyle, Karen Flournoy, Mark Hague, Michael Haire, Tina Levine, Bob Morcock, Carl Reeverts, Cindy Singletary, Sandy Stavnes, and Amy Zimpfer for providing 20-30 minute one-on-one mentor sessions with the interested applicants.
