EPA’s Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program (EJ TCGM) provides $600 million in pass-through funding for regional and national Grantmakers to issue thousands of subgrants to community-based nonprofits and others for assessment, planning, and project development activities.

Region 1: RFPs anticipated early December.
Region 2: Fordham University’s Flourishing in Community initiative Request for Applications
– Funding Available: $40 million to support community-led environmental justice projects across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and eight federally recognized Indian nations.
– Application Deadlines: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and the grantmaker will operate for a three-year duration. First awards are expected to be made in late winter 2024-2025.

– Partner: ConPRmetidos created a partnership with Fordham University to support and promote the “Flourishing in Community: Fordham University Environmental Justice Grant Program.” To grant these funds, a proposal evaluation process will be opened in which non-profit organizations and municipalities may participate. Region 3: Green and Healthy Homes Initiative’s (GHHI) Request for Applications
– Funding Available: $40 million in grants to fund 171 eligible projects in historically disinvested communities throughout EPA’s Region 3: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and 7 federally recognized tribes.
– Application Deadlines: Two-year grants are rolling until December 30, 2024, and one-year grants are rolling until April 30, 2025.

Region 4: Research Triangle Institute (RTI): RFPs are anticipated November 22.

Region 8: Mountains and Plains Environmental Justice Grants Hub (MAP EJ) Tier 1-3 Competitive Request for Applications and Tier 1 Non-Competitive Request for Application
– Funding Available: $40 million in grants to fund six states (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado) and 28 federally recognized tribal nations.
– Application Deadline: Accepting applications for all grant tiers until December 12, 2024

Region 9: Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE) (RFPs anticipated in early January 2025)
– Funding Available: $40 million to benefit disadvantaged communities in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, the Pacific Islands, and 148 Tribal Nations.

Region 10: Philanthropy Northwest Type 3 Grant Request for Applications
– Funding Available: $40 million in grants over the next three years in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and tribal nations in these four states.
