On Wednesday, March 17, EPN member Dr. Betsy Southerland, former EPA Director of Science and Technology, Office of Water, provided testimony at a hearing on Brain Drain: Rebuilding the Federal Scientific Workforce held by the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Her testimony highlighted the need to rebuild the capabilities, productivity, morale, and inclusivity of the EPA workforce in order to address the complex challenges of public health and environmental protection in the 21st century. Although she was testifying in her personal capacity, she cited work from EPN’s Resetting the Course of EPA project.
