On April 24, 2018, Trump’s EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt proposed to restrict the use of scientific studies in setting rules and agency policies, if the underlying data and models used to support that data are not made public. The proposal, while veiled as an attempt at transparency, is a direct attack on long-accepted scientific approaches and presents a real threat to the progress made on making this country and its people healthier. On May 29 and 30 and June 1, 2018, EPN provided written and oral comments to the EPA Science Advisory Board for consideration in its discussion of EPA planned actions and supporting science.
